SHELVING UPRIGHTS MANUFACTURING LINE : the challenge, productivity and flexibility
Our french customer has been market leader in industrial racking and shelving systems for over 45 years.
He owns several manufacturing plants in France and Eastern Europe. This specialist decided to invest in a new DIMECO FLEXILINE in order to improve its productivity together with more flexibility.
In addition, this new investment should allow the manufacturing of a new shelving range. The FLEXILINE features flexible punching and roll forming technologies.
“MULTISTEP” punching
DIMECO’s “MULTISTEP” proprietary technology is performed on the coil on a 160t mechanical straight-side press running at up to 150 Spm.
Part program manages up to 3 tool selectors that actuates notching, punching or marking tools.
Rafted rollforming machine
After a loop, the strip enters a 25 pass continuously running roll forming machine. The machine can process different profiles changing all or part of the 5 rafts. The flying hydraulic shear crops the parts which then leave the line through a two ways selection device.
Advanced control system
The SIEMENS SIMOSTAR® 370 numerical control and its 12” touch screen offer an intuitive and userfriendly human-machine interface. When the machine attendant retrieves the part to produce from the production list, some line adjustment parameters are automatically configured.
Quick changeovers
This was the key challenge. DIMECO developed a customized package on this FLEXILINE to allow quick changeovers of part shapes, lengths and thicknesses.
It mainly includes a double decoiler with powered rotation, a coil end welding machine, an advanced stamping tool handling system (hydraulic clamping, die lifters and consoles) and a roll forming machine housing 5 removable cassettes locked by hydraulic clamps. Roll former is easily configured for a new material thickness just shifting a set of spacers. Completely changing the line from one type to another upright model now lasts less than 30 mn !
