Current method :
For reasons of transport, handling and safety, the coils with width inferior to 500 mm are carried out « flatly » i.e. at vertical axis on wooden frames.
In case of narrow width, several coils can be stacked on the same frame : the coils are then separate by woods divisers.
Most of decoilers that use those coils are equipped with expandable mandrels with horizontal axis.
The operation of change of axis and of setting up on mandrels are carried out either:
- The first step for changing of axis is made by
a tilter
- The second step is loading the coil onto a
hook + travelling crane
- Or by a unique step by handling the coil at the end of the forklift truck. This solution is extremely dangerous
New method : new ROTOBLOC machine
- The Tiltmatic allows to settle simultaneously the operations of coils tilting and of coils loading onto decoilers.
- The Tiltmatic was designed for receiving coil flat (vertical axis) directly by the forks of a forklift truck.
- The tilting crutch combine with the motorized translation of the machine generates the quarter turn during the first part of the stroke.
- The last part of the stroke of the Tiltmatic engages the coil onto the mandrel
Advantages
- Safety : no manual intervention since the removal with the forklift truck until the mandrel expansion. High stability of the coil during the movement.
- Simplicity: the only motor of translation allows the tilting of coil and its engagement on the mandrel
- Reversibility: Whatever its external diameter, an unfinished coil can be picked up and returned to flat (vertical axis) by the Tiltmatic. After strapping, the coil is put in stock directly by the forks of the handling equipment.
